Windows Phone variant of Galaxy S 3 may be unveiled by October

There has been a lot of talk surrounding the yet unannounced flagship smartphone from Samsung. The last we heard about this handset was that it would feature a 4.8-inch display, as opposed to the previously believed 4.6-inch one that was expected to feature here. With the device set to be unveiled in a few short hours, we will finally get to know everything there is to know about the Samsung Galaxy S 3 smartphone. Samsung is preparing to launch a handset that is exactly similar in design to the S 3, but will run on the upcoming Windows Phone 8 platform and will be launched under the name, Focus S II. 

Samsung is planning for their first Windows Phone 8 device. It looks like Samsung is going to be milking their upcoming Galaxy S III for all it’s worth, as the Korean smartphone maker plans to use Galaxy S III (hardware and design) as the basis for its new Windows Phone 8 device, currently dubbed, the Samsung Focus S II. Samsung is supposedly going to make the Focus S line the “Galaxy S” of Windows Phones.” The source goes on to state that due to the changes in the Windows Phone 8 OS, Samsung will be able to get the maximum out of the S 3’s faster processor, better resolution as well as LTE capabilities. The overall design of the next Focus S II, will be very similar to the Galaxy S III, but with Windows Phone branding, a dedicated camera button and a slight difference on how the buttons would be laid out. The handset will go on sale by October.

Call of Duty:Black Ops II :sequel to COD Black Ops

Activision have confirmed the Call of Duty game this year will be a sequel to Black Ops. Unlike the first game that took place in the Cold War, this one will take place in the near future and will deal with the looming threat of all out global conflict. 


While Black Ops looks like any prior Call of Duty game, it’s interesting to see that Treyarch have now added in a bit of open endedness into the game. This doesn’t mean the franchise is now in open world territory; it means that players will have a choice in undertaking certain missions and the story will then play out depending on the choices they made. At the same time, these choices may also affect the fate of some of their squad mates.


These concepts aren’t exactly unheard of in the industry, but it’s refreshing to see Treyarch try something different with the franchise. Expect more Call of Duty: Black Ops II at E3 2012, but in the meantime, mark the 13th of November, 2012, since that’s when the game will release for the Xbox360, PS3 and PC.

Multiplayer for God of War: Ascension revealed

Looks like the ongoing rumours of multiplayer in the God of War universe are true as Sony finally unveiled the multiplayer aspect of God of War: Ascension, the prequel to the God of War games, last night. 

So far only one gameplay mode has been revealed that has eight players battling it out against each other in two teams of four. After one team has been dominated by the other, the team that controls all points gains access to certain weapons that will help them take down a gigantic AI controlled foe. In this case, it was one unfortunate Cyclops that met his end in a brutal way via some very painful looking finishers.

Karbonn Mobiles to launch KT81 with Dolby sound

Karbonn Mobiles, who are the manufacturers of mobile phones in the Indian market, have announced their collaboration with Dolby Laboratories Inc. to deliver Dolby Sound to their upcoming range of mobile phones. The Karbonn KT81 marks the first in a series from Karbonn Mobiles, which incorporates cinematic Dolby Sound to bring better quality sound and a great listening experience to mobile entertainment enthusiasts. Designed to deliver a powerful sound on feature phones, Dolby Sound intends to make mobile music louder and clearer. 

Speaking of specifications, the forthcoming Karbonn KT81 will feature a 3.2-inch capacitive screen with Haptic Touch interface. The device will also have a 3.2MP camera, and ability to install apps which will be available through Karbonn's own app store called 'K-store'. The phone has FM Radio with recording capability as well.


Moreover, the Karbonn KT81 will also have pre-installed applications like YouTube, Nexgtv for live TV Viewing. For connectivity, the device will support GPRS and Edge. The Karbonn KT81 will come with a 1,000mAh battery.


There's no official word on pricing, but it is expected be around Rs. 5,000

Huawei MediaPad, Acer Iconia tablets get Android 4.0 ICS update

Huawei and Acer have rolled out Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for their MediaPad and Iconia A500 tablets respectively. Both the tablets currently run on Android v3.2 platform.

To update the Huawei MediaPad, users will need to visit the Huawei download centre, which means users will need to plug the device into the PC. Huawei is now shipping the tablet with pre-installed Android 4.0 ICS. The ICS upgrade will bring a host of improvements such as improved user interface, app icons, web browser and power management.


To refresh your memory, the MediaPad tablet comes with a 7-inch display, 1.3MP front facing camera and 5MP auto ocus rear facing camera with HD video recording capabilities. The tablet is powered by Qualcomm's dual-core 1.2GHz processor. 


Acer users will need to check for the availability of the update by tapping Menu > Settings > About tablet and then tap 'Check for update' to get Android 4.0.3. Acer has also rolled out an app for making the upgradation process easier. The app called ICONIA TAB Update Enhancement is available on the Google Play app store ( previously known as Android Market). The ICS update is also available for Acer's A501 tablet.

Is your personal data safe???

Increase in online shopping, social networking sites and gadgets has definitely made life very easier but it also have some side-effects. To know about this, a survey was conducted by Euro RSCG according to which increase in social networking has interfered with the private life of the people. The survey was conducted in 19 countries ( Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Columbia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, South Africa, UK and USA) and on 7,213 people. Mainly consumers and prosumers were included in this survey. The questions that were asked were mainly about the digital revolution.

The most important point that was problematic to many was online security in social networking sites. As we all know that the social networking has made many people open on their private life and they don't even hesitate to share their personal information. But they don't know that by doing so, they are getting into a great risk of theft of their private data. 


Maximum people in the survey said that social networking has made their personal information public. Nearly 60% claimed that sharing personal data on social networking sites is wrong. On the other hand 58% said that by getting very much attached to social networking, they have lost their capability of public discussion. 48% people rejected to say anything about the demerits of social medias but 10% accepted that it has some bad impacts.


The conclusion of the survey was that social networking is responsible for interfering in one's private life. One out of four people said that social networking sites, like facebook and twitter, has not made their life much satisfied. On the other hand, the youngsters involved in this survey were also not very happy with the digital revolution.


Tom Mortan, the chief strategic officer of Euro RSCG New York said "Social networking sites should take steps to ensure protection of private data". The only way to make your personal data secure is not to share your private experiences and feelings in social networking sites.

Delhi Airport Metro Express line gets improved mobile connectivity

Passengers travelling on Delhi's Airport Metro line will now enjoy uninterrupted mobile connectivity. Reliance Infrastructure, which manages the Airport Metro Express line, has revealed that major operators such as Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and Aircel have installed their base transceivers at all the stations of the Express line.

So far, only Reliance customers were able to use their phones on the 23-km corridor, it's learnt. A Reliance spokesperson says, the telecom infrastructure at Airport Metro Express line was set up by Reliance. "A complete bouquet of RCom, Vodafone, Airtel, Idea and Aircel services will now be available at our stations and inside the train for the benefit of commuters," the spokesperson said.


Reliance already provides Wi-Fi connectivity at all the stations on Delhi Metro Express line. The company believes the uninterrupted mobile phone connectivity along with hi-speed Wi-Fi access will add to the comfort of the commuters.


Network outage and call drops are some of the common problems faced by Metro commuters. Availability of the interrupted mobile connectivity of Express Line is definitely a welcome move, as it going to benefit hundreds of commuters. However, it will be better similar facilities are made available on other Delhi Metro lines, especially the underground line, as well.
