Sony has started rolling out Android 4.0 to the cheap and cheerful Xperia Mini Pro, proving that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) isn't just for high-end smartphones.
With Sony having recently announced that the Xperia Play wouldn't be able to support the Android 4.0 operating system, Sony Xperia Mini Pro users must have been worried, given the handset's lackluster 1GHz chip and 400MB of onboard storage.
However, Sony has announced that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is now rolling out to "most" Xperia Mini Pro models worldwide, although this might not happen for some network locked handsets. To download the update users will need to hook up their device to a computer and install using Sony's PC Companion software, and we recommend backing up the handset beforehand.
Sony has yet to reveal what new features the update will bring, although we're guessing that users can expect a revised user interface with resizable widgets, a faster web browser and WiFi Direct.
The company has not yet released an Android 4.0 ICS update for Xperia Mini, Xperia Active and Live with Walkman handsets, but has promised that it's coming "soon"
