Videocon to launch 4G services in India this year

Indian telco Videocon Mobile Services will launch 4G services in July 2013 in the 1800 MHz band, according to a report by The Telegraph. Videocon will make use of the spectrum it has won in the auction in November 2012 for the telecom circles of Bihar and Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (East and West) and Gujarat.

The 1800 MHz frequency band is being used for voice services, but the spectrum licenses sold by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) are paired and liberalised. So operators can roll out newer generations of standards on it and can offer 2G, 3G, or 4G services on the same spectrum band. The 4G generation of mobile phone communication standards allows users to do enjoy high speed applications such as streaming high definition (HD) videos and playing games online. Using the same spectrum resources on 4G LTE, telecom service providers can gain higher efficiency.

Panasonic introduces 20-inch 4K Windows 8 tablet : CES 2013

The first thing you know about 4K is that the resolution makes sense if you will view the content on an 80 to 85-inch display. But that isn’t stopping companies from squeezing the resolution into smaller displays.

Under the hood, the 20-inch prototype has an Intel core i5 chip along with micro-USB, micro-SD ports and Wi-Fi. The device lasts for about two hour battery life.

Dell updates XPS13 with 1080p HD display: CES 2013

Fans of the Dell XPS 13 have something to rejoice about as Dell has announced at CES that they will be updating the product line with the option of a 1080p HD screen. The manufacturer has, however, refrained from adding a touchscreen.

Despite the love that the XPS 13 gathered from its users, the one aspect everyone complained about was the relatively low resolution of the display. Dell has therefore announced that a full HD 350-nit screen will be available to the users in the coming months at an additional charge of course.

Along with the new display, the updated XPS 13 will also have an option of Core i5 or Core i7 processors along with the ability to slot in a 256GB SSD. The new Dell XPS 13 will also have the option to include 8GB of RAM, making the machine quite a strong performer.

Unfortunately, a price or release time frame hasn’t been made public by Dell, so we just suggest that if you’re looking to buy an ultrabook, do wait till Dell makes the price and release date official.
