There prevails an eternal question as to prefer what Android to Windows or Windows to Android? It is a very tough choice as Android dominates the low and mid budget phone segment, but with the introduction of Lumia 520, 620 and 720, Nokia has clearly attacked this segments trying to regain it's lost respect. Here in this post I line up my views trying to answer this question.
The battle will be fought on certain basis, namely Looks, Apps, Feel and etc. A point will be awarded to the winner in each segment.
Variety
Before the introduction of Lumia 520, Android dominated the 10k range of smartphone. As we can see there are many phones available than runs on Android and Windows. But here again Android is in majority, dominating the below 10k segment. As an average smartphone costs around 10k, so a point will go to both Android and Windows (thanks to new series of Lumia phones)
Windows 1 - 1 Android
Windows' marketplace is way behind Android's play store. Many popular apps like instagram, temple run, some parts of Angry Birds, GMail, Youtube and Draw Something are not available in Windows and will not be. So Android takes the lead here.
Windows 1 - 2 Android
Windows Phone OS has certainly better looks than Android. It's tiles' size customization feature is great. So Windows level the score here.
Windows 2 - 2 Android
One great thing about Windows is that so get the same feeling regardless of what phone you use. The way Windows feels like in Lumia 920 you will get the same feeling in Lumia 520 also. So a point goes to Windows here.
Windows 3 - 2 Android
Customizibility of Windows is more than Android. Two different Windows phone of two different users can never look the same
Windows 4 - 2 Android
Android phones gets updates to its latest version but this is not the case with Windows. The Windows 7.5 version didn't got update to Windows 8, but to Windows 7.8. So Android gets a point here. But now Microsoft has decided to give upgrades to its Windows Phone 8 users. So three cheers!!
Windows 5 - 3 Android
Both OS offers good social network integration. In Windows, you can line up all your contacts, facebook and twitter under the people tab. But in Android there are separate apps, which some likes and some not. With the introduction of facebook home for Android, the facebook integration has been deepened. Unfortunately there are no signs of Fb home for Windows. Still a comparison can't be made between the two here as it depends on the user. A draw here.
Windows 6 - 4 Android

Number of apps that can be run simultaneously
This is where Windows looses. Windows has a limitation of 8 apps at a time but this is not a case with Android. But using 8 apps is difficult, eh. So a point goes to both
Windows 7 - 5 Android
The Verdict
If you are an app loving person, then go for Android. Otherwise you can do with limited apps (most useful apps are available) then definitely go for Windows. Remember with the introduction of Temple Run and other famous apps on Windows, we can see that Microsoft is working hard on increasing the app count.
