The Acer Iconia Tab A510 is due to launch by June this year in India. The company is currently in the process of finalizing plans for the upcoming Indian launch and the launch is expected to be held sometime in the next two months. This marks the entry of the second Quad Core tablet in the Indian market after the ASUS Transformer Prime. The Acer Iconia Tab A510 was first seen at CES 2012 where it packed some pretty heavy hardware like a Quad core Tegra 3 SoC under the hood.
The Acer Iconia Tab A510 was launched in the US back in April for $449 that translated to about 24,000. Should the price A510 be under the 30,000 range, it could prove to be an aggressive competitor to existing high-end devices. With the ASUS Transformer Prime coming in at 50,000 and also featuring a quad core Tegra 3 SoC processor, ACER just could get a leg up on the competition. The A510’s processor has been clocked to 1.3GHz and will also come with Android 4.0 a.k.a Ice Cream Sandwich straight out of the box with their new ‘Acer Ring’ UI layered on top. It will have onboard memory of 32GB, which can be further expanded with a MicroSD memory card. With 1GB RAM the tablet should also prove to be a speedy device.
Unfortunately the A510 doesn’t seem to have a standard USB port for thumb drives etc. unlike its predecessor which could be a setback for some. Acer has incorporated Dolby Mobile 3+ audio engine with the twin stereo speakers for a better audio experience. The tab also has a 9800 mAH battery which should give users great battery life in comparison to other tablets currently in the Indian market.
Here’s a quick recap of the specifications of the A510:
- 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800
- Wi-Fi with DLNA, Bluetooth with A2DP + EDR
- YSB 2.0 (micro)
- 5MP AF camera with 720p recording and geotagging and a secondary 1MP front camera
- HDMI
- 32GB Internal memory with microSD card support for up to 32GB
