After Google Drive, LG is the next one to jump onboard the cloud train with their newlylaunched LG Cloud. The service is still in Beta and is currently only available in South Korea and the U.S. Similar to other cloud services, LG Cloud lets you store all your videos, photos and music in the cloud under a unique account. But what sets this apart from the other cloud services is that you’ll be able to access your data, not only on your phone, but also on LG’s Smart TVs through the app. Another unique feature is that you’ll be able to stream almost any sort of video on any phone or PC without a problem, as all conversions will be taken care of by LG’s servers, it doesn’t matter even if you don’t have the codecs for the video. Although it hasn’t launched globally, yet, you can still create an account by heading here. After a quick sign up, you get 5GB of free storage, which can be upgraded at a later stage.
The LG Cloud site does have a link for the Android app, but that’s only available through LG App World, which comes bundled on LG phones. If you manage to find the .apk, then it could work. You can give it a try if you want, but chances are you’ll only be able to view your file on different PCs, since the APK is not available for phones in India. Word on the street is that Samsung will also be announcing a similar service, at the Unpacked event tonight. Cloud services seem to be gathering steam off late and now it seems like mobile handset makers as well want a piece of the pie. Acer will also be launching their Acer Cloud service, along with their new range of smartphones, later this year.
