How to trace location from a email

In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to find sender's IP address from a email. I am using a G-Mail ID to demonstrate this. The way of finding IP is same for all email providers like yahoo, hotmail. If you have any problem, you can write to me or leave a comment in this post. You can also write on the wall of Tech Biscuits facebook page.

Now follow these steps:

  • Log in to Gmail and open the message.
  • On the right hand side, you will see the date. Click the adjoining arrow. A drop down menu will appear

  • Now click on "Show Original". A new tab will open up.(see the image above)
  • This tab will be full of codes that will blow your brain. Now see the 5th or 6th line.
  • You will find the sender's IP address. (see the image below)

  • If the IP address is private, you can't trace them. If you want to know more about private IP address, click here.
  • Now open this site
  • Paste the IP and bingo, the IP address location will appear
