Samsung is going to launch Galaxy Note 10.1 a.k.a Galaxy Note 8000. The device will go on sale in the US and UK on August 16, 2012. Currently, the Wi-Fi only version of the device will go on sale.
The 16GB Galaxy Note 10.1 variant is priced at $499 (Rs. 28,000 approx.) whereas the 32GB variant is priced at $549 (Rs. 31,000 approx). The 4G LTE versions of the Galaxy Note 10.1 are expected to be made available later this year. The Wi-Fi only Galaxy Note 10.1 is competitively priced when compared to iPad 2012 (read our review). The 16GB Wi-Fi only iPad (third generation) is priced at $499 where as the 32GB variant is priced at $599.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 is also available for pre-order online in India, on Samsung's India eStore, which lists a Rs. 2,000 booking amount. It will ship with a 'free bookcover worth Rs. 3,249'. No delivery dates have been revealed however.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Note 10.1 boasts of some pretty impressive specifications. It weighs a mere 600gms and its 10.1-inch screen has a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. The device also supports expandable memory up to 64GB via a microSD card slot. The device has an Exynos 4412 Quad 1.4GHz quad-core processor, Mali-400MP graphics and a whopping 2GB of RAM. The device runs Android 4.0.3 ICS. The OS is skinned with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.
The rear of the Galaxy Note 10.1 has a 5MP camera with LED flash. The camera can record video in 720p HD at 30fps. The device also has a 1.9MP front facing camera for video chat.
Just like its 5-inch sibling, the Note 10.1 also has a stylus support (S Pen). The stylus comes bundled with the device.
