Facebook introduces 'Close Friends' feature

Facebook users can now stay more connected with heir close friends with a new feature called “Close Friends”. According to reports, the new feature started appearing on Facebook Thursday last week.

Users, after signing into Facebook, are shown a “Star your close friends” message, prompting users to prepare a list of friends, whose updates they want to see the most. Users will be asked organize friends into “Smart Lists”. With the new feature, users can now stay more connected with their “close friends”, without ever needing to interact, visit their profile or subscribing them in your news feed. Facebook’s Smart Lists is based on where you work, live or went to school or family.

With the new feature, users can also have a news feed of their “close friends”, pretty similar to a Google+ circle. All you need to do is select the list from below the Friends tab on the left hand side.

It's learnt that “close friends” has been on Facebook for quite a long time. However it was last week when the social network started pushing this feature. Learn more about Facebook's close friends feature here.
