Chinese manufacturer, Oppo’s new Android smartphone, the Finder has grabbed the title of being the world’s thinnest smartphone in the current crop of Android smartphones available in the market. While doing so, it also beat Huawei’s Ascend P1 S by a mere 0.03mm. It has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. The phone comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. With an 8 megapixel rear camera supporting 1080p video recording and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, the available spec sheet of the Oppo Finder does look pretty impressive.
The phone has featured in a rather cool advert as well that compares it to the likes of the iPhone, which is 9.30mm ‘thick’, the Galaxy S II, which is 8.45mm thick and the RAZR which is 7.10mm thick. The Finder, however, as compared to them measures a mere 6.5mm. If thickness (or for that matter, thinness) is something that is extremely important to you, then we’ll throw in a few more numbers. From the current generation of quad-core phones, the HTC One X is 8.9mm thick, while Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S III measures in at 8.6mm. Coming back to the slim profile of Oppo’s smartphone, the Finder, heating issues and battery life may be two major concerns, but leaving those bits aside, it is definitely an impressive feat to cram these specs into a profile so thin.
As far as availability is concerned, according to Micgadget, the phone will be available for pre-order on June 6 and it will come at a cool price tag of 3,999 yuan (approx. Rs.34,973).
